I'm Back!!!

Hello Packer fans! I took an unplanned year off from blogging but I am back to share some new polishes with you all.

These are from Altered Ego and they are so fun! Especially for the Holiday season! The two I have for you today are Limelite Lover and Ultimate Gift Giver.

First I want to show you Ultimate Gift Giver, since you know I am a sucker for red! It is described by Cynthia at Altered Ego here: The Ultimate Gift Giver is generous to a fault, she even faithfully donates blood whenever she can:) This gal has also made sure her family knows they are to donate every part of her body that can be transplanted in the event of her passing & she takes good care of herself to be sure her organs will be of use! If that isn't the ultimate gift I don't what else can be:) Bright red base with metallic .004 bright red glitter. I used 2 coats and this dries to a semi-matte finish as shown in the first image.

The next two show the complimentary topcoat called she shines which also comes with your order.

Limelite Lover is next and is described here: A limelite lover is someone who is always "on"! Quick witted, glib & observant, happy to be part of any scene as long as they can find an audience! This enamel has 2 shades of lime glitter, 1 matte & 1 holographic. 2 coats with 1 coat top coat, no base color. This is also 2 coats with she shines added after the first pic.

The formula is good on both of these. I could have probably used one more coat on Limelite Lover, only because my polishing skills are a little lacking lately, lol.

One thing to mention is that due to the base used, these polishes will settle. 5 minutes on the opposite side and a little shake and they are good to go.

You can find them here at Altered Ego's Etsy shop and they retail for 8.50.

So what do you think?

These polishes were provided to me for review.

World Diabetes Day

Hi All! I have a very special post for you today, it's World Diabetes Day. Diabetes has affected my entire family in some way or another. I have many cousins and great-grandparents who are diabetic along with my mom and even my baby kitty.

From the World Health Organizations website:

Diabetes is a chronic disease, which occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. This leads to an increased concentration of glucose in the blood (hyperglycaemia).

World Diabetes Day raises global awareness of diabetes - its escalating rates around the world and how to prevent the illness in most cases. Started by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and WHO, the Day is celebrated on 14 November to mark the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, was instrumental in the discovery of insulin in 1922, a life-saving treatment for diabetes patients.
WHO estimates that more than 346 million people worldwide have diabetes. This number is likely to more than double by 2030 without intervention. Almost 80% of diabetes deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries.

Once again the nail community has banded together in support of a good cause. We are wearing blue today in support of World Diabetes Day.
My mani is a simple one, Peripera 019. It is one of my favorite polishes ever. Flawless application, a wide brush, super cute bottle and its scented on top of all the other good things about it! On to the pics!

Now it does have a tealish tone to it but I assure you the blue is stunning!
Please feel free to visit my page on facebook and leave your blue mani of the day!

November 8 for No H8

November 8 for No H8: Eradicate Hate in the Nail Polish Blogger Community

Bullying is not funny.  It is not cool.  It is not right.  And more importantly, it is not okay.

Most of us are thankfully residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason.  Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer.  Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color and even to our polish application techniques.  To look down on anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that.  I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement.  Today, November 8, I dedicate my post  to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

Bullying has touched the lives of some people close to me. It is senseless and cruel and has no place in today's society. The sad thing is it is still difficult to get the assistance of schools and parents and the behavior is left to continue until it's too late. Whether it leaves a child in so much despair they feel no other recourse than to take their own life as in the sad case of Amanda Todd, or the child is able to turn it around and build their self-esteem up in spite of it as in the case of Whitney Kropp, bullying has got to be addressed and society needs to be educated.

My mani today uses one of my favorite polishes, Nerd Lacquer Eight Gates. It is overa base of Layla 64 - African Violet.

Please take this seriously, you may think you are "just teasing" someone or joking but it is easy to let "teasing" get out of hand. Bullying is not funny, it's not acceptable and it will NOT be tolerated.

If you or someone you know suffers from bullying, there is help.  Please visit the following sites for support and encouragement:
